Think About Your Customer While You Design Your Website!
Before you design your site, you should know your customers. The following questions will help you focus on designing a site that meets the needs of your customers.
- Who are you trying to reach? Is there more than one type of customer using your site?
- What do you want your visitors to do when they are on your site?
- Who are the visitors that will bring you the most profit?
- What initial information or visuals will attract the attention of your customers and encourage them to remain on your site or return?
- What information will your visitors be looking for?
- What keywords would they be using to search for you?
- How are you planning to reach your visitors?
- Does you website have the look and feel that best represents you to your customers?
- What look and feel will gain their respect for your business and create a call to action?
- Does this look and feel (your branding) match your other branded promotional materials?
- Is all of your branding consistent?
- What features will your customers require? i.e., downloads, forms, email address, content driven newsletters, contact areas, buy now buttons, RSS feeds
- How will you stay in touch with your customers?
