You only have one chance to make a good first impression.
This first impression, and keeping your new visitors on your website is absolutely essential.
The hero section is the first thing people see when they visit your website. It is the area that shows up on the screen under your logo and menu, and is above the fold. (The fold is the part you have to scroll). This is one of the most important parts of your website to be done right because most people will leave if it loads slowly or does not deliver the right message.
It’s hard to do but this one section should reflect these six areas:
- What you have to offer (what do you do?)
- What audience this product or service is for
- Why people should trust you
- The value received by working with you
- What action they should take next
- Make your brand stand out from the competition.
Finding a way to pull all this together at first glance is an art. The foundation is having true clarity on your brand alignment which comes from a deep understanding of you and your ideal client. This is why I created my BrandAlign Framework that takes you through a process that is constantly aligning your brand to a changing world.
Here are a few tips to design a great hero section
- Use an emotionally engaging hero image or video
- Create a powerful headline and subheading
- Include a call to action
- Demonstrate the benefits or results and show legitimacy of your business (eg, logo, seal, LLC, years etc)
- Add an enticing lead capture
- Test and refine
Putting together an effective hero section quires a true understanding of your brand. If done well, you will see that this one change on your website can impact your bottom line significantly.
