The following optimization factors are used by search engines to index your page:

Meta Tags

(Title tag, description tag, keyword tag), Header Tags, Text-body tag and Alt image tags. Before you add your tags you should conduct solid keyword research. Your keys words are the foundation of your SEO strategy so spend some time here and do it right!

Title Tag

This is the title that shows up in a search. It is the most important factor for indexing. Include ONLY your main keywords- make sure they describe your product or service You will get a higher ranking for less words. Format it as – site title, keyword1, keyword2, keyword3. You can use the name of your business as your site title. It should not be longer than 80 characters. Take out all of the “ands” and replace with a “|”. Combine your keywords.

Description Tag:

This is the description that show up in a online search. The description should be relevant to the page. It is ideal to use a sentence or paragraph that is in the content of your page. Can be up to 500 characters, including spaces.

Keyword Tag:

Use a list of keywords that are relevant to the content of your web page. Use your url as the first key word and separate your keywords with commas. Use 5-10 Keywords. Use a few keyword phrases.

HEADER TAGS:

Headers are used to break entries up into logical sections. They are the heading (or title) of different parts of your page. The H1 Heading is often the title displayed for the content of the page – for example the title of your article. Your h1 header tags are best put in top left hand or top middle since Google reads from left to right. Your H1 tags should contain the most important keywords for the page. Your h2 header tags with 2nd most important keyword, should be placed somewhere towards the top half of your webpage.

TEXT- BODY TAG:

The body element contains all the content of the document (text, images, graphics, colors etc.). Use main keywords (naturally) throughout the copy but don’t over do it. Mention keywords at top left and very bottom right. Bold, italicize and underline some of the keywords.

ALT IMAGE TAGS

ALT tags are images’ descriptions. Place your keyword 1 in the alt image tag of the very top image in your webpage. Place your other keywords plus an extra word like “picture” or “image in the alt image tag of 2 more graphics throughout your webpage.

Hyperlink Title Attributes

This is the title of the link. It will show up when you hover over the link. Currently it is not indexed by Google but it is useful for the site user.

URL

Your url – (the address of the site) is also an important factor in search engine indexing. You should try to use keywords in this as well.
